AAP accuses BJP in Delhi of transferring 11 government hospitals built during COVID to private entities; 10,073 beds, including 4,314 ICU beds, at stake.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)  accused the Rekha Gupta-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Delhi of transferring the responsibility for constructing 11 hospitals initiated by the previous administration during the COVID-19 pandemic to private companies.

These hospitals possess a total of 10,073 beds, of which 4,314 are designated as ICU beds. They were constructed to offer gratis medical care to the residents of Delhi. Are land and structures valued at thousands of crores being transferred to corporate entities? AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated in a post on X.

There was no official response from the BJP regarding the allegations at the time of publication.

The former Delhi Health Minister stated that the capital city faces a deficiency of government-operated healthcare facilities.

As previously indicated a few months ago, the BJP government is transferring the management of 11 government hospitals initiated by the Arvind Kejriwal administration to private entities. Why are hospitals constructed with public funds being transformed into private healthcare facilities, despite the absence of a shortage of private hospitals, when what is truly needed are government-run hospitals? The BJP presented a fraudulent budget of ₹1 lakh crore; however, does the government truly lack the funds to construct hospitals? Mr. Bharadwaj stated in a subsequent post.

In July, Ms. Gupta announced that seven ICU hospitals under construction, commissioned by the previous AAP government during the pandemic, will be converted into super-specialty medical facilities.
