AAP accuses BJP of “vote theft” and booth manipulation in Delhi MCD by-elections, highlighting alleged polling rule violations and fraud claims.
In the current Delhi MCD by-elections, the Aam Aadmi Party accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of “vote theft” on Sunday.
AAP stated in a post on X that when a voter called Poonam showed up at Booth 33 in the Naraina district, she was taken aback to discover that a vote had already been cast in her name. This, according to the party, was unmistakable proof that the BJP had “lost hope of winning” and was now “dependent solely on fraudulent votes.”
The AAP accused the BJP of trying to “steal the bypolls through fraud and manipulation” and said that similar accusations of fraudulent voting were also coming from a number of other booths. The Election Commission’s participation was also questioned by the party, which said it was “not acting against these illegalities.”
Another accusation made by the party was that Umang Bajaj, a BJP MLA, had broken Rule 49M, which forbids taking pictures and using cell phones within polling places. According to the AAP, the MLA demonstrated that he had “no fear of the Election Commission” by taking pictures inside the booth and making them public.

It is now “clear” that the Commission has “closed its eyes to BJP’s wrongdoing,” the AAP said on X, referring to the scenario as “not an election, but BJP’s high-handedness.”
51 candidates, including 26 women, are running in the by-elections, which are the first significant test of Delhi’s political climate following the BJP’s resounding assembly victory earlier this year. Eight female candidates have been put forward by the BJP, six by the AAP, and five by the Congress.
Three of the 12 voting wards were previously occupied by the AAP, and nine by the BJP. Strong BJP strongholds Shalimar Bagh-B and Dwarka-B are key fight locations, and the AAP sees the elections as an opportunity to recover from its assembly loss.
