Chanakyapuri Shock: MP Sudha Ramakrishnan’s Gold Chain snatched during Morning Walk
In a shocking incident within Delhi’s high-security diplomatic enclave of Chanakyapuri, Congress MP R Sudha, representing Mayiladuthurai (Tamil Nadu), was robbed of her gold chain during a routine early morning walk. The incident has raised serious concerns about safety, even in the capital’s most protected zones.
At around 6:15 a.m., while near the Poland Embassy gates, the MP was walking with another MP when a man riding a scooter approached her. The man wore a full helmet covering his identity. Suddenly, he snatched the gold chain from her hand and fled. The force of the snatching was so violent that it tore her clothes; she was also injured in the neck and shoulder.
Despite the shock, MP Sudha maintained her composure. She was taken to report the incident and later wrote to home Minister Amit Shah describing the attack as “highly shocking”, with its occurrence in a VVIP Zone
The Delhi Police promptly registered the FIR, and teams of over ten investigators began scrutinizing the CCTV footage, which may speed up the investigation; as well as interrogating the witnesses. Enhanced security arrangements have been ensured around Tamil Nadu Bhavan and the area adjoining it.
