Bihar raises minimum wage from Oct 1, 2025: Rs 428 for unskilled, Rs 444 for semi-skilled, Rs 541 for skilled, and Rs 660 for highly skilled workers.
On October 1, 2025, the Bihar government changed the minimum pay rates for all worker categories. Unskilled laborers will now receive Rs 428 a day, semi-skilled workers Rs 444, skilled workers Rs 541, and highly skilled workers Rs 660, as per a notification released by the Labour Resources Department on Wednesday.
According to the department, the hike, which ranges from Rs 4 to Rs 6 per day, has been implemented as a dearness allowance. The minimum wage underwent its most recent modification in April 2025.
Meanwhile, the state is concentrating on creating job prospects in the food processing industry through skill development, according to Labour Resources Department Secretary Deepak Anand, who was speaking at the opening of the Bihar Food Sector Industry Meet in Patna. He pointed out that young people with training in this area may considerably aid Bihar in becoming a center for the food industry and help the government reach its goal of one crore jobs.
Mission Director Manish Shankar strengthened industry connections during the event by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sachin, who represented Sattuz, and Subodh, who represented the Mumbai Dabbawala. Rajesh Bharti, the Labour Commissioner and Additional CEO of the Bihar Skill Development Mission, emphasized the importance of skill training in promoting employment and expansion in the food processing industry.
The occasion also marked the introduction of a dedicated website and the publication of a textbook created by School Net for the Kushal Yuva Program.
