Nitish Kumar criticized after hijab incident in Patna; security tightened amid opposition backlash and threats from Pakistan.
Patna: Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, is now more secure as a result of the debate surrounding the hijab, which has sparked strong political reactions around the nation. Official sources claim that after intelligence services shared particular information following the incident, the decision was made to bolster his security. Political tensions have increased as a result of the incident, and opposition leaders have harshly criticized the chief minister.
When Nitish Kumar was handing out appointment letters to recently hired AYUSH doctors at a Patna ceremony on Monday, the ruckus began. He allegedly stripped a Muslim woman who had stepped up to get her appointment letter of her hijab during the ceremony. Soon after, a video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking indignation.
Chief Minister slammed by opposition
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and other opposition leaders called the Chief Minister’s move “shameful” and “unacceptable.” They demanded accountability for the incident and accused Nitish Kumar of offending religious feelings. Authorities acted quickly to reevaluate the Chief Minister’s security measures as political reactions grew.

Pakistan’s threat is alarming.
In connection with the dispute, Kumar also received a threat from Pakistan, which was a significant escalation. Shehzad Bhatti, a Pakistani don, is said to have threatened the chief minister. Officials haven’t, however, revealed all the specifics of the heightened protection. The Director General of Police in Bihar ordered a thorough investigation of the video associated with Shehzad Bhatti after the threat. Officials stated that after the investigation is over, more steps would be taken.
Female MPs criticize Kumar Nitish
Women lawmakers from both parties have harshly criticized the episode. “Everyone must ensure that a woman is treated with dignity and not harmed, regardless of her caste, religion, or age,” stated JMM MP Mahua Manjhi. It should not have happened if his actions caused the woman to feel humiliated. It is wrong, and we condemn it.”

The Bihar Chief Minister was also criticized by SP MP Iqra Hasan, who stated, “The government talks about respecting women.” The state’s chief minister degraded a lady who earned her position via hard work. She moved to Kolkata today to live with her brother after leaving Bihar. We vehemently denounce this occurrence. We acknowledge the Chief Minister’s advanced age, but no father figure or senior citizen has the right to treat a woman in this manner. We insist that the woman get a public apology from the Chief Minister.
