Punjab’s Fight Against Drugs Gains Momentum as Over 4,500 Villages Declare Themselves Drug-Free

In a strong push towards making Punjab a drug-free state, the ongoing anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, initiated under the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is witnessing growing success with over 4,500 villages across the state declaring themselves drug-free.

Speaking to the media, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond emphasized that the campaign is yielding significant results. “Drug traffickers are now fleeing Punjab. The days of unchecked drug trade are over,” he stated, adding that the people of Punjab are actively participating in the mission to free their communities from substance abuse.

The campaign, which is being spearheaded as a grassroots movement, combines community mobilization, awareness drives, and enhanced law enforcement efforts to tackle the drug menace. Authorities note that this movement has not only disrupted trafficking networks but has also strengthened village-level commitments to staying drug-free.

Minister Sond underscored that the initiative’s growing success marks a sharp departure from past efforts, which lacked the momentum and results being seen today. With more villages joining the movement daily, the government is hopeful this people-led approach will pave the way for a healthier and safer Punjab.
