Virat Kohli scored 131 in Delhi’s Vijay Hazare Trophy opener, bringing him within two hundreds of Sachin Tendulkar’s List A record of 60 centuries.
The ongoing 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy has intensified the competition for cricket immortality. Virat Kohli, a modern-day legend, is now very close to breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most hundreds in List A history.
The difference between the “Master Blaster” and the “King” has shrunk to just two tons after Kohli put up a classic performance in Delhi’s inaugural match on December 24, smashing a match-winning 131 against Andhra.
For more than ten years, Sachin Tendulkar has held the record for the most hundreds in List A cricket, which comprises domestic 50-over matches and One Day Internationals (ODIs).
The majority of List A cricket hundreds
- 60 centuries of Sachin Tendulkar
- With 58 centuries, Virat Kohli
- Gooch, Graham, 44 centuries
- Graeme Hick: forty centuries
- Sangakkara Kumar: 39 centuries
With 58 hundreds now, Kohli only needs two more to tie the record and three more to surpass it.

The efficiency with which Kohli has scored—he has surpassed Tendulkar by more than 200 innings—makes his chase all the more impressive.
Outperforming Sachin in Style
Kohli did more than simply try to reach the century mark during his historic 131-run thrashing in Bengaluru. In just 330 innings, he broke Tendulkar’s previous world record of 391 innings and became the fastest player in history to reach 16,000 List A runs.
The Path Ahead
Despite missing out on another century today, Kohli is still in excellent physical and technical condition. He scored a fluid 77 against Gujarat in the Vijay Hazare Trophy before getting stumped.
Fans are hoping that the 37-year-old will take the top rank before the event concludes because there are still a number of group-stage matches and possible knockouts left in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Claiming the overall List A title would be the last gem in Kohli’s white-ball crown, since he already broke Sachin’s record for the most ODI hundreds (50) during the 2023 World Cup.
