Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 14, becomes youngest player to score 50+ in ICC U19 World Cup 2026, surpassing Babar Azam’s record.

In the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, India’s teenage batting star, smashed yet another record.

The 14-year-old scored 72 runs and hit his half-century in 30 balls during a group stage match against Bangladesh. The Boys in Blue then scored 192 runs in 39 overs before play was halted due to rain.

His knock has now catapulted him to the top of an elite list, surpassing Babar Azam, the outstanding batsman from Pakistan who previously participated in the competition as captain.

What record did Vaibhav Suryavanshi break at the U19 World Cup?

Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player to score 50 or more at the ICC U19 World Cup when he scored 72 off 67 against Bangladesh.

Prior to Babar Azam, who is currently ranked third, Shahidullah Kamal of Afghanistan was the youngest player to do so. Suryavanshi has actually eclipsed Virat Kohli, who scored 978 runs in the format, with 1,047 runs overall in youth One Day Internationals (ODIs).
