Shubman Gill faces backlash for “copying Kohli”, told to control his language
Shubman Gill, one of India’s rising cricket star, is now facing sharp criticism for his recent on field behavior.
Former Cricketer Manoj Tiwary has accused Gill of trying hard to imitate Virat Kohli’s aggressive persona, especially since taking up captaincy duties in IPL.
In a bold statement, Tiwary said Gill needs to mind his language and warned that his attitude could be affecting his batting form. This came after Gill’s animated behavior during the Lord’s test against England, which sparked comparisons with Kohli’s trademark intensity
Tiwary said:
“He’s trying to copy Virat, but it’s backfiring. His performance is dipping, and this type of aggression doesn’t suit everyone”
Fans and pundits have noted while Kohl’s aggression come out naturally while Gill’s aggression appeared to be forced, Tiwary further said suggested that instead of emulating others, Gill should focus on playing to his own strengths.
