The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has penalised Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra for his on-field altercation with a Karnataka player during Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy 2025–26 final. Despite the seriousness of the incident, Dogra has avoided a suspension and instead been handed a financial penalty.

50 Per Cent Match Fee Deducted

According to reports, the experienced domestic cricketer has been fined 50 per cent of his match fee for the confrontation. A final statement from match referee Narayanan Kutty is expected after the conclusion of the match, but current indications suggest that no match ban will be imposed.

The incident occurred when Paras Dogra , after edging a delivery from Prasidh Krishna for a boundary, confronted Karnataka substitute fielder KV Aneesh at silly point. Television footage showed Paras Dogra making contact with Aneesh by butting helmets, prompting immediate intervention from on-field umpires.

Karnataka batter Mayank Agarwal quickly stepped in to protect his teammate, while captain Devdutt Padikkal was seen in discussion with the umpires regarding the incident.

J&K Dominate Despite Controversy

The altercation somewhat overshadowed a commanding batting performance by Jammu and Kashmir, who ended Day 2 in a dominant position at 527/6.

Shubham Pundir led the charge with an impressive 121, anchoring the innings with composure. Paras Dogra himself contributed a determined 70 despite the controversy. Valuable contributions also came from Yawer Hassan (88), Kanhaiya Wadhawan (70), and Sahil Lotra, who remained unbeaten on 54.

For Karnataka, Prasidh Krishna was the standout bowler, finishing with figures of 3/90 in 29 overs, while the rest of the attack struggled to make breakthroughs.

Brief Scores

Jammu and Kashmir 527/6 (Pundir 121, Hassan 88, Paras Dogra 70; Prasidh Krishna 3/90) vs Karnataka.

While the disciplinary episode grabbed headlines, Jammu and Kashmir’s strong batting display has placed them firmly in control of the Ranji Trophy final heading into the next day’s play.
