Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will next play for India in the England ODI tour 2026, with a possible early appearance against Afghanistan.

After the excitement of the India-New Zealand ODI series, fans of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will have to exercise patience. Since both stars have stepped away from T20Is and Test cricket, their appearances in the Indian jersey have become rare and highly anticipated events.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s Next India Match

The duo is unlikely to feature for India for the next five months. Their next major assignment is the ODI tour of England in July 2026. The three-match series will begin on July 14 and will be held at cricketing landmarks including Edgbaston, Cardiff, and Lord’s.

A Possible Early Return

There’s a silver lining: under the current Future Tour Programme, Afghanistan is expected to tour India in June for a one-off Test and a three-match ODI series. Virat and Rohit are expected to play in this series, although official dates are yet to be confirmed. This series would be part of India’s effort to strengthen competitive ties with its Asian neighbors.

If this series proceeds, the second half of 2026 could be busy, with Rohit and Virat potentially featuring in up to 15 ODIs between June and December.

Meanwhile, fans can catch them sooner in IPL 2026—Rohit with Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kohli with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). For now, the focus for both will likely be the IPL, but the countdown to the July England tour has officially begun for “Men in Blue” enthusiasts.
