India T20 star Rinku Singh faces backlash from Karni Sena over AI-generated video showing Hindu deities in modern style ahead of T20 series.
India’s T20 sensation Rinku Singh is currently caught in an unexpected controversy. What began as a viral AI-generated video meant to celebrate his success has now turned into a legal confrontation with Karni Sena, creating a headache for the Aligarh-born cricketer.
The issue started when Rinku shared an AI-created reel on social media. The video, intended as a tribute to his journey, featured stylized depictions of Hindu deities, including Lord Shiva, Hanuman, Ganesha, and Vishnu, wearing black sunglasses and riding in a car.

While the creators seemed to intend the gods as modern-day protectors or guides—with Lord Hanuman even at the steering wheel—the execution sparked outrage among traditionalists.
Backlash from Karni Sena
Karni Sena perceived the video not as a tribute but as disrespectful to sacred icons. Led by Sumit Tomar, the group members visited Sasni Gate Police Station in Aligarh to file a complaint.
Their stance: faith should not be “modernized” for social media attention. They found the combination of Western music and revered religious figures offensive to Sanatan Dharma, and demanded that Rinku issue a public apology.
For Rinku—who famously has “God’s Plan” tattooed on his body—the video was likely meant to celebrate his journey. For his critics, however, it crossed the line.
Rinku Singh’s Upcoming Matches
If selected in India’s final playing XI, Rinku Singh is expected to play next in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, starting January 21, 2026, in Nagpur, followed by the T20 World Cup in February.
