The fine came after KKR’s defeat to Chennai Super Kings, where the visitors failed to maintain the required over-rate during the match. Despite a disciplined effort with the ball to restrict CSK to 192/5, KKR could not keep up with the required pace of overs.
On the field, Chennai Super Kings secured a 32-run victory, continuing their improving form in the tournament. Meanwhile, the penalty adds to the pressure on Rahane and his side, who are still searching for their first win of the IPL 2026 season.
The IPL has maintained strict rules regarding over-rate offences, and repeated violations could lead to heavier fines or further disciplinary action in upcoming matches.
