Magh Gupt Navratri 2026: Navratri, one of Hinduism’s most sacred festivals, is dedicated to Goddess Shakti, the divine feminine energy. Celebrated four times a year, it includes two Prakat (public) Navratris—Chaitra and Sharadiya—and two Gupt (secret) Navratris in Magh and Ashadha. During Gupt Navratri, devotees worship not only the nine forms of Goddess Durga but also the ten Mahavidyas in secrecy, focusing on spiritual growth and siddhi (attainment).

When Is Magh Gupt Navratri 2026?

According to the Hindu Panchang, Magh Gupt Navratri 2026 begins on January 19 and concludes on January 27. The festival starts with Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, and the concluding day also coincides with Ravi Yoga, making these nine days highly auspicious for spiritual practices and ceremonial activities.

Significance of Gupt Navratri

Sadhana and Puja Practices

During this period, devotees engage in:

  • Mantra chanting and recitation of Durga Saptashati

  • Havan and offering Akhand Jyot (continuous lamp)

  • For simpler observances, a nine-day vow of Ram Raksha Stotra or Devi Bhagwat recitation is considered highly auspicious

Puja Samagri Includes:
Idol or image of Goddess Durga, vermilion, saffron, camphor, barley, incense, red flowers, mango leaf toran, bangles, mirror, comb, fragrant oil, turmeric, kumkum, sacred thread, betel nut, coconut, kalash (earthen or brass), ghee lamp, havan materials, fruits, milk, curd, honey, sugar, dry fruits, Gangajal, and white clothes.

How to Perform the Puja:
Tantric practitioners and devotees often perform rituals at midnight, adorning the Goddess with a red chunari and offering red flowers. The lamp is lit with mustard oil, and prayers are offered while chanting “Om Dum Durgaye Namah”.
