On the second day of the National Agriculture Conference held at Pusa, New Delhi, Union Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan led extensive discussions with state agriculture ministers, scientists, senior officials, and progressive farmers. The National Agriculture Conference was described as a “Team India” platform aimed at strengthening coordination between the Centre and states for holistic agricultural development.
Chouhan emphasized that the National Agriculture Conference reflects a shared national resolve to accelerate agricultural growth through policy innovation, scientific research, and time-bound implementation of farmer-focused schemes.
Record Food Grain Output and Future Roadmap
Addressing the gathering, the Union Minister highlighted India’s record food grain production of around 376.563 million tonnes. Speaking at the National Agriculture Conference, he credited farmers, scientific institutions, state governments, and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this historic achievement.

He added that the National Agriculture Conference also focused on the need to further enhance productivity, ensure nutritional security, and increase farmers’ income while making agriculture more sustainable and profitable.
Focus on Seeds, Fertilisers and Scheme Implementation
A key highlight of the Agriculture Conference was the strong emphasis on timely availability of quality seeds, efficient fertiliser distribution, and effective implementation of agricultural schemes. Chouhan directed states to strengthen seed supply systems and ensure strict action against substandard agricultural inputs.
He also highlighted the importance of Soil Health Cards, Farmer IDs, and the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ to promote balanced fertiliser use. The National Agriculture Conference stressed that agricultural reforms must directly benefit farmers at the grassroots level.
Credit, Mechanisation and Innovation in Agriculture
During the Agriculture Conference, discussions also focused on improving access to agricultural credit, expanding Kisan Credit Card coverage, and strengthening Custom Hiring Centres for farm mechanisation.
The Union Minister emphasized the role of Krishi Vigyan Kendras, agricultural universities, and FPOs in ensuring that innovation and research reach farmers quickly. The National Agriculture Conference underlined the need for export-oriented horticulture development and modern farming practices.
Strong Message on Accountability and Farmer Welfare
Concluding the National Agriculture Conference, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan stressed that governance must remain farmer-first and result-oriented. He called for strict action against fake seeds and pesticides, timely crop insurance payments, and simplified administrative procedures.
He reiterated that the National Agriculture Conference is not just a policy platform but a mission to transform Indian agriculture into a globally competitive and resilient sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
