Defence Minister Rajnath Singh officially opened Tata Advanced Systems Maroc’s new production plant in Berrechid, Morocco, describing it as a significant event that demonstrated India’s expanding contribution to international defence cooperation.

“We are working on Make with Friends in addition to Make in India,” Rajnath Singh stated during his remarks at the launch. We will work with reliable partners to create and manufacture innovative technologies as part of this project. The advantages of our innovation will ultimately be distributed to everyone on the planet through “Make for the World.” An outstanding illustration of this exact goal is the facility that is being built at Berrechid. This facility also shows that Indian firms are ready to work with friendly countries to improve their defense capabilities in addition to serving domestic demands. This is an example of a collaboration that upholds sovereignty, builds local capability, and promotes world peace. The Defense Minister emphasized the advancements in India-Morocco relations and pointed out that cooperation has spread into several areas while situating the new defense plant within the broader context of bilateral ties.

“Today, as we welcome India’s leading private-sector defense enterprise to Moroccan soil, this day further strengthens our shared resolve,” Singh said in response to the arrival of Tata Advanced Systems Limited in Morocco. It is a really momentous time that Tata Advanced Systems Limited has established this defense production facility. It is among the first overseas defense manufacturing facilities set up by an Indian business. This is an important step for the Indian defense industry as a whole, not just for Tata Advanced Systems.

“This facility, which spans 20,000 square feet, will manufacture an advanced armoured combat vehicle, incorporating the latest attributes of mobility, protection, and firepower,” Singh explained while describing the facility’s scope. In collaboration with India’s Defence Research & Development Organization, or DRDO, this armored platform was created. It is proof of India’s in-house defense technology as well as the environment we have established for research and development in recent years. He emphasized the project’s emphasis on local involvement.

“What makes this project unique is its dedication to local integration. According to what I’ve been told, over one-third of the parts and subsystems will be procured and put together in Morocco from the start, and in the upcoming years, the local value-added portion is anticipated to account for half of the total output,” Singh stated. The minister emphasized that the program represented a long-term collaboration and went beyond commerce.

He also emphasized the facility’s strategic significance, drawing attention to the relationship between Morocco’s topography and India’s growing industrial base. As a natural connection between Europe, the Middle East, and the Atlantic, as well as a gateway to Africa, this plant serves as a bridge between this area and the worldwide market. On the other hand, India has become a dependable partner of the Global South and a burgeoning center of innovation thanks to its expanding industrial and technological foundation. Thus, both nations will benefit from this plant,” Singh stated.

Singh’s two-day official visit to Morocco included the inauguration. Rajnath Singh became the first Indian defense minister to visit Morocco when he arrived there on Sunday. When Singh landed at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport, he was greeted by Indian Ambassador to Morocco Sanjay Rana and Head Wali of the Military Command of Casablanca. Large crowds of Indian community members, including the president of the Indian Association, also gathered to greet the minister.
