Gandhi Rahul Press Conference: Rahul Gandhi, a Congress leader and member of the Lok Sabha LoP, made grave accusations against the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday over “vote chori.” Gandhi accused Gyanesh Kumar, India’s chief election commissioner, of shielding “vote chors” during a special news event at Indira Bhawan. He claimed that “someone” has been deliberately deleting millions of Indian voters’ information. Gandhi further clarified that he would deliver his much-awaited “H bomb” later and that this news conference was not it.

Rahul Gandhi made the following five accusations during his press conference:

1. Gandhi said at the start of the press conference that there was indisputable evidence that CEC Gyanesh Kumar was shielding vote-chors. He went on to say that “someone” has been methodically deleting millions of Indian voters in election after election.

2. The Congress MP accused the Aland constituency in Karnataka of deleting 6018 voters, claiming that “someone” attempted to do so and was accidentally caught. He claimed that this occurred during the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections.

3. He further claimed that a centralized criminal enterprise had been established by “someone” to rig elections. This operation used voter impersonation to file 6108 deletion applications in Aland. Gandhi said that in order to target Congress voters, automated submission of online EC applications and mobile numbers from outside Karnataka were used.

4. Gandhi pointed out that the top ten booths with the most deletions were congressional strongholds, implying planned removals in these areas. In 2018, Congress took home eight of ten booths. “This was a planned operation, not a coincidence,” he said.

5. Gandhi also made the grave accusation that ECI was impeding the Karnataka CID’s inquiry. “Karnataka CID filed a formal complaint and sent 18 letters in 18 months requesting information, but ECI is not sharing,” he claimed. Karnataka EC has repeatedly asked ECI for complete information; the most recent request was made in March 2025, and the present situation indicates that EC has halted the investigation.
