NBEMS Announces Fresh Schedule for NEET SS 2025
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has once again revised the NEET SS 2025 exam dates, creating fresh buzz among medical aspirants. According to the latest official notice, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Super Speciality (NEET SS) will now be conducted on December 26 and 27, 2025.
Earlier, the exam was scheduled for November 7 and 8, before being postponed to December 27 and 28. The new announcement marks the third change in the examination schedule this year.
The NBEMS notice stated, “NEET SS 2025, which was tentatively scheduled to be held on 7th and 8th November 2025, shall now be conducted on 26th and 27th December 2025. This has the approval of NMC and MoHFW.”
This means candidates must now prepare for the final test dates just after Christmas, with the approval coming from both the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
Information Bulletin and Demo Test to Be Released Soon
The information bulletin for NEET SS 2025 will soon be available on the NBEMS official website – natboard.edu.in. The detailed bulletin will include crucial information such as syllabus, eligibility criteria, exam centres, and instructions for candidates.
Additionally, NBEMS will release a demo test link to help candidates familiarise themselves with the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. The demo test aims to ensure aspirants can confidently navigate the exam interface before the actual test days.
Each exam day will include two shifts:
- Morning Shift: 9:00 am to 11:30 am
- Afternoon Shift: 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm
The NEET SS 2025 will be conducted in CBT mode across multiple test centres nationwide. The new schedule provides students additional preparation time, though the repeated changes have caused uncertainty among many candidates.
Background: Why NEET SS Matters for Medical Aspirants
The NEET SS (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Super Speciality) serves as the only qualifying exam for admission to DM, MCh, and DrNB Super Speciality courses in India. As mandated by Section 61(2) of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, no other test conducted by any university, institution, or state government is valid for admission to these super-speciality programmes.
Even medical colleges under Union Territories like Jammu & Kashmir are not permitted to hold separate entrance exams for these advanced medical courses.
In 2024, the NEET SS examination took place on September 9 and 10, also in CBT mode. Candidates were divided into two shifts — morning and evening — to maintain smooth conduct across centres.
Given that the 2025 test has already been rescheduled multiple times, medical aspirants are closely monitoring updates from the NBEMS. Many candidates expressed relief that the exam is still set within the 2025 calendar year, avoiding a clash with upcoming postgraduate or university schedules.
