PM Modi met UK PM Keir Starmer at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai to discuss key areas of strategic cooperation, including fintech, defence, and trade partnerships.
The two leaders are expected to finalize important defense agreements during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with UK PM Keir Starmer today, at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. Starmer is anticipated to sign significant trade agreements, including investments in technology and innovation, defense and security, climate and energy, health, and education as part of “Vision 2035,” after arriving in Mumbai on Wednesday with a sizable delegation.
The two prime ministers will assess the state of several facets of the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in accordance with ‘Vision 2035,’ according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

A key component of the future India-UK economic engagement, the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) offers businesses and industry leaders options that both leaders will discuss with them. According to a statement released by the MEA, they will also discuss matters of regional and international significance.
Later that day, it is anticipated that both prime ministers will attend and give keynote presentations at the 6th Global Fintech Festival in Mumbai. International innovators, policymakers, central bankers, regulators, investors, educators, and business executives can all come together at the Global Fintech Festival. Since “Empowering Finance for a Better World” is this year’s conference theme, it emphasizes how technology and human intelligence are convergent.

In a previous round of talks with business leaders, Starmer emphasized the importance of the India-UK commercial partnership. “The United Kingdom has never sent a larger trade mission to India,” he said during a meeting with industry representatives.
Beginning in 2026, the UK PM additionally revealed that three significant films from Yash Raj Films (YRF), India’s top film company, would be filmed throughout the country.
Starmer also spoke to Mumbai football supporters, describing the influence of the Premier League’s training program on the growth of the game in India and expressing his joy at the way football unites communities.
Known as a “return leg” visit, the UK PM’s two-day trip to India follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UK earlier this year.
