The Ganga Expressway was officially inaugurated on Wednesday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Hardoi district, marking a major infrastructure milestone for Uttar Pradesh. The 594-km-long corridor, which connects Meerut to Prayagraj, is expected to transform travel, trade, and regional development across the state.

The launch of the Ganga Expressway took place in the presence of Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The project was inaugurated with the touch of a button, symbolizing the beginning of a new era in high-speed road connectivity in Uttar Pradesh.

The Expressway is being described as one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the country. It is a six-lane expressway, expandable to eight lanes, designed for a speed of 120 kmph. The corridor is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve safety and convenience for commuters.

Ganga Expressway: CM Yogi Calls It a ‘Lifeline’ for Uttar Pradesh Development

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called the Ganga Expressway a “lifeline” for the state, connecting villages, farmers, entrepreneurs, and youth. He said the project will play a crucial role in accelerating development and bridging distances across regions.

Union Minister and BJP Uttar Pradesh president Pankaj Chaudhary also praised the Ganga Expressway, calling it one of the longest expressways in India and a major boost to modern infrastructure in the state.

The Ganga Expressway passes through 12 districts including Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj. This vast connectivity network is expected to enhance trade, logistics, and regional mobility.

Built under a public-private partnership model, the Expressway also features advanced infrastructure including a 3.2-km airstrip near Shahjahanpur for emergency aircraft landings. The project is equipped with an Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), CCTV surveillance, emergency call boxes, ambulances, and patrolling units to ensure safety.

Along the Ganga Expressway, Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Clusters (IMLCs) are being developed. These include warehouses, cold storage units, and food processing hubs aimed at attracting investment and generating large-scale employment opportunities.

The Ganga Expressway will also connect with major corridors such as the Purvanchal, Agra-Lucknow, Bundelkhand, and Gorakhpur Link Expressways, creating a strong interconnected road network across Uttar Pradesh.

Officials believe the Ganga Expressway will play a key role in advancing Uttar Pradesh’s ambition of becoming a trillion-dollar economy, while significantly improving infrastructure and regional development across the state.
