Senior opposition leaders discuss coordinated response on key national issues

Senior leaders of the INDIA bloc convened in New Delhi on Monday to strengthen their collective strategy against the central government. The meeting aimed to enhance coordination among opposition parties on key national issues, marking a significant step in the bloc’s unified approach.

The high-level discussion was chaired by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and attended by prominent leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Supriya Sule, and Omar Abdullah.

The leaders emphasized the need for continued unity within the INDIA bloc meeting framework, both inside and outside Parliament, to effectively raise issues of public concern.

During the INDIA bloc meeting, opposition leaders raised serious concerns about rising inflation, unemployment, and the overall economic slowdown. Mallikarjun Kharge highlighted challenges faced by youth in securing jobs and warned about the weakening pace of investment in key sectors.

He also expressed concern over issues in the MSME sector and alleged increasing dominance of private monopolies, stating that the INDIA bloc meeting reflected growing unease over economic management.

Electoral Process and Institutional Issues Discussed

A key focus of the INDIA bloc meeting was the electoral process, particularly the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Mamata Banerjee raised allegations that the process could be influencing electoral advantages and questioned the role of constitutional bodies.

The opposition leaders collectively expressed concern that democratic institutions and constitutional safeguards were under pressure, making the INDIA bloc meeting an important platform for raising such issues.

Call for Stronger Opposition Unity

Participants at the INDIA bloc meeting agreed on the need to maintain coordination and present a united front on major national issues. They reiterated that unity would be crucial in challenging government policies in the coming months.
