A sudden Delhi NCR dust storm swept across the national capital and surrounding regions on Tuesday afternoon, leading to abrupt weather changes followed by rain and thunderstorms in several areas. The Delhi NCR dust storm impacted daily life, visibility, and traffic movement across multiple parts of Delhi and adjoining Noida.

Sudden Weather Shift Across Delhi NCR

The Delhi NCR dust storm was witnessed in prominent areas including Chhatarpur, RK Puram, Kartavya Path, India Gate, Barakhamba Road, and near Gurdwara Bangla Sahib. Similar conditions were also reported from Noida Sector 49 in Uttar Pradesh, where strong winds and dust reduced visibility temporarily.

The weather disturbance later developed into spells of rain and thunderstorms, marking a significant shift after days of intense heatwave conditions.

Flight Operations Disrupted at IGI Airport

The Delhi NCR dust storm also impacted air traffic at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Authorities confirmed that flight operations were affected due to poor visibility and inclement weather conditions.

Airport officials advised passengers to check flight status with airlines and consider alternate transport such as the Delhi Metro to avoid delays while the Delhi NCR dust storm conditions persisted.

IMD Records High Humidity and Temperature

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), humidity levels in the capital stood at around 73%, while temperatures reached a maximum of 40°C and a minimum of 27°C. The Delhi NCR dust storm occurred amid these extreme weather conditions, intensifying discomfort before the rainfall brought relief.

Rainfall Reported in Other Cities

While the Delhi NCR dust storm affected the north, other metros also experienced weather activity. Kolkata witnessed heavy rainfall, with several parts of the city receiving intense showers. Mumbai also reported varying rainfall levels across different suburbs, according to civic data from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Relief After Heatwave Conditions

The sudden change brought much-needed relief from prolonged heatwave conditions across several states. The Delhi NCR dust storm followed by rain helped lower temperatures and eased humidity levels, providing temporary comfort to residents.
