Rubina Dilaik opens up on vlog about people comparing her infant twin daughters’ complexions and advising “besan” remedies.
Actress Rubina Dilaik, who is a mother, has spoken up on an issue most parents face. In her recent vlog, Rubina disclosed that her twin daughters Jeeva and Edhaa, who are 18-19 months old approximately, are already pitted against each other based on their skin tone. She told me about strangers advising to apply besan (gram flour) or other home remedies to become “fair” — a deeply disturbing version of early colourism.
“Obviously, people have given us suggestions that we should just apply besan…” Rubina narrated how such advice never seemed to help. Even as they’re still infants, the girls are already confronting the same societal prejudice that a lot of kids experience later in life.
Instead of getting angry Rubina tells me she feels with love and reassurance. “I whisper to them, ‘You are beautiful,’” she said. In her other words, she is committed to raising daughters who maintain self-esteem against external judgments
The actor’s candid revelation has resonated with many fans, highlighting the early impact of colour-based comparisons. Rubina’s intention is clear: she aims to combat prejudice by creating a loving and positive environment for her children—even as they face it in infancy.
