Ram Kapoor Opens Up About Life-Threatening Health Scare and Weight Loss Journey
Actor Ram Kapoor, widely admired for his recent transformation, has opened up about a serious health crisis that forced him to completely re-evaluate his lifestyle. In a candid conversation on Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa’s podcast, Ram shared that doctors had warned him of a possible diabetic stroke if he didn’t take immediate action.
Recalling a difficult period during the filming of Neeyat in Scotland, Ram said, “I was at my worst back then. I weighed around 140 kg and had to take insulin shots before every meal — three times a day. My blood sugar levels were dangerously high. That’s when my doctor told me, ‘If you keep going like this, you could have a diabetic stroke.’ That was the wake-up call.”
The actor, known for his charm and onscreen presence over two decades, revealed he used to finish an entire KFC bucket alone, highlighting how deep his unhealthy habits had become.
He also shared an emotional promise he made to his son: to start taking his health seriously once he turned 50. “I’m still a work in progress,” he admitted, noting that his transformation was not just physical but also emotional and psychological.
Changing his look so drastically after 25 years in the industry wasn’t easy. “It was a huge risk — the audience has always seen me a certain way,” he explained. “But I had to do this to stay alive.”
Ram added that his doctor — someone he considers family — had laid it out clearly: he would either have to take powerful medications like Ozempic or Monjaro, or completely change his lifestyle. “He told me, ‘You have two options — either fix your health, or you’re going to die.’ And I trusted him.”
