Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has finally addressed widespread speculation about Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham 2, clarifying that there are no plans to create a sequel to the 2001 family drama classic. Speaking on On Call with Sonal Kalra for The Right Angle, Johar emphasized that preserving the original film’s legacy is his priority.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham 2: Nostalgia Over Sequel

Johar acknowledged that while the original Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham had its flaws, the emotional connection it holds with audiences across generations is unparalleled. “I would never make Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham 2 because the nostalgia it carries is priceless. Generations have grown up watching it, crying, laughing, and enjoying the story,” Johar said.

Takht Remains a Future Project

While denying Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham 2, Johar also addressed the status of his historical film Takht. Featuring a star-studded cast including Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal, Takht has faced delays and is yet to be released. Johar confirmed that Takht is still on his agenda, but no production has begun.

The filmmaker stressed that creating Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham 2 now could risk damaging the original film’s legacy. “I am proud of the movie we made.
