Farah Khan Recalls Being Amazed by 14-Year-Old Rasha Thadani’s Dance Talent

Veteran choreographer and filmmaker Farah Khan, known for her fun-filled YouTube vlogs often featuring her witty cook Dilip, recently took a nostalgic trip down memory lane during a visit to actress Raveena Tandon’s farmhouse. While laughter and memories flowed freely, one moment stood out: Farah’s heartfelt praise for Raveena’s daughter, Rasha Thadani, who wowed her with her dance skills at the tender age of 14.
Over a candid chat, Farah reminisced about choreographing iconic numbers for Raveena in the 90s, expressing both admiration for her talent and regret over not getting more opportunities to collaborate with the actress. “I always knew Raveena would be a heroine,” Farah smiled, recalling their early days. But it was the next generation that truly caught her off guard.
“She [Raveena] sent me a video of Rasha dancing when she was just 14, and I was like, ‘This girl dances like a dream,’” Farah recalled. With her trademark humor, she added, “I showed it to my kids and told them, ‘Sharam aani chahiye tumko!’” (You all should be ashamed!)—a light-hearted jab that reflected just how impressed she was by Rasha’s effortless grace and rhythm.
The moment was more than just a compliment—it was a passing of the torch. When Raveena mentioned that her daughter was now stepping into Bollywood, Farah was quick to praise her but couldn’t help quipping, “But you are way better than Rasha. She is good, but mother is mother only!” The camaraderie between the two women, peppered with admiration and friendly jibes, was heartwarming to witness.
Rasha, who made her Bollywood debut in Abhishek Kapoor’s Azaad alongside Amaan Devgan, may not have had a dream launch at the box office, but her talent—especially her dancing—has already carved out a fan base. Her recent performance at the Zee Cine Awards became a viral moment, where she stunned audiences dancing to the evergreen hit Tip Tip Barsa Paani, originally made famous by her mother. She also brought back the energy of Madhuri Dixit’s Ek Do Teen, proving she’s ready to take on Bollywood’s grand musical legacy.
But Rasha’s training wasn’t just about steps—it was about soul. In a candid chat with BBC Asian Network, the young actress shared how her mother prepared her for the screen with a crash course in classic Bollywood expression. “She used to make me watch Rekha ji, Saroj ji, and Sadhana ji’s performances,” Rasha said. “‘Okay, see her expression here, this is a happy expression—but notice how she’s done it. Look at her eyes, look at her lips,’” her mother would guide.
Behind the spotlight and star lineage lies a story of passion, discipline, and a legacy being gracefully handed down. As Rasha takes her first steps into an industry her mother once ruled, it’s clear she’s doing so with the perfect mix of talent, training, and timeless inspiration.
And if Farah Khan’s words are anything to go by, Bollywood better keep an eye out—because this dream dancer is just getting started.
