As Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah celebrates 17 years on television, veteran actor Dilip Joshi, who plays Jethalal Gada, looked back on the long absence of his on-screen wife Daya Ben, played by Disha Vakani.
Joshi mentioned that from 2008 to 2017, they created countless memorable moments, and their shared theater background helped them develop great chemistry. “Personally, as a fellow actor, I really miss her a lot,” he said, noting that the light-hearted moments have not felt the same since she left.
He pointed out that the show’s producers will decide on her return but remained hopeful. “Let’s see. I am always positive,” he added, reflecting the feelings of the fans.
Meanwhile, the show’s producer acknowledged that Daya Ben’s legacy is irreplaceable. He said that any comeback would need to fit with a suitable storyline and the right timing. He added that the focus remains on providing clean, family-friendly entertainment.
