Anshula Kapoor Opens Up on Her Journey to Financial Independence and Emotional Healing
Anshula Kapoor, daughter of producer Boney Kapoor and sister to actor Arjun Kapoor, has candidly opened up about her emotional struggles and the path to becoming financially independent. Speaking in a recent interview, Anshula shared that she only began earning for herself in 2022 and now supports herself as a content creator and social media influencer.
Reflecting on her younger years, Anshula admitted she often felt like a burden on Arjun-
He took on the role of both emotional and financial caregiver after the loss of their mother, Mona Shourie. “For the longest time, Arjun bhaiya was completely responsible for me,” she said. “He looked after me like a child, which made me feel like a burden—financially, physically, emotionally. I thought, ‘He should be doing this for his own child, not me.’ Therapy really helped me let go of those thoughts.”
Anshula spoke openly about the emotional turbulence she experienced growing up, especially after her parents’ separation and her father’s remarriage to Sridevi. She shared that her sense of self-worth took another hit when her half-sister, Janhvi Kapoor, was born.
When her mother passed away while she was still in college in the U.S., Anshula returned to India and took the first job she could find — not wanting to stay in Mumbai at the time. Her first paycheck, she revealed, was just ₹18,000. She went on to work with major companies like Google and Hrithik Roshan’s fitness brand, HRX.
“Financial independence changed everything for me. It gave me security, confidence, and a real sense of accomplishment,” she said. Interestingly, she mentioned that while she had been an entrepreneur in the past, it was only when she embraced content creation that she truly felt financially self-reliant.
Despite growing up with privilege, Anshula was quick to acknowledge that this privilege was earned. “My father worked to give me this life,” she explained. “Even Sonam didi and Arjun bhaiya didn’t grow up with that level of comfort in the early years. People often forget that when they talk about the Kapoor family.”
