Tata Sierra: The new Sierra from Tata Motors represents its most significant introduction to date. Alongside numerous updates, the new Sierra is equipped with a range of new powertrains, including the 1.5 Hyperion engine, which offers a fuel efficiency of 29.9 kmpl.

That is an impressive figure; however, how did the Sierra attain such a milestone? The Sierra achieved this level of efficiency at the Natrax test track in Indore. The mileage figure was recorded following a 12-hour session at the track, during which the vehicle was operated from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a brief pause to replace the driver. It has been recorded for its efficiency while also achieving a maximum speed of 222 km/h, despite customer vehicles being limited to 190 km/h.

Tata Sierra Test Conditions and Powertrain Specifications

Although the fuel efficiency is high, these tests have been conducted under specific conditions, and replicating these results in real-world scenarios would be challenging. Nonetheless, they demonstrate the advance of the technology in terms of powertrains and fuel efficiency.

The Sierra is equipped with three powertrain options, including the new 1.5-litre Hyperion T-GDi engine producing 160ps and 255Nm, paired with a six-speed torque converter transmission. There is also a 1.5-litre Revotron engine producing 106 PS, equipped with a 7-speed DCT.

Fuel efficiency is influenced by numerous factors, and actual fuel performance in real-world conditions will vary depending on driving habits and traffic conditions. Tata Motors will shortly disclose the official fuel efficiency figures for the Sierra.
