Dense fog at Delhi’s IGI Airport causes long flight delays. IndiGo and SpiceJet advise travelers to check flight status before heading to the airport.

Several flights at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International ( IGI Airport  )were delayed on Friday as dense fog continued to impede visibility across areas of north India. Airlines IndiGo and SpiceJet, together with Delhi airport officials, responded by issuing advisories advising travelers to verify the status of their flights prior to departing for the airport.

According to Mint, lengthy delays are anticipated throughout IndiGo’s operations.

All IndiGo flights were delayed by more than six hours, according to the report, and passengers who were stuck were given refreshments. Additionally, there were lengthy lines at food establishments, and travelers had to go through security checks once more in order to reenter the airport.

Advisory for Delhi Airport

Dense fog forced the adoption of CAT III operations, which may cause delays and disruptions, according to a statement issued by Delhi airport at 8 AM on Friday.

The airport stated that “CAT III operations at the airport have resulted in dense fog, resulting in possible delays and disruptions.”

In order to help travelers throughout terminals, the airport further stated that its on-ground workers were collaborating closely with all parties involved. For real-time flight updates, travelers were urged to get in touch with their individual carriers.

The statement read, “We truly apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding.”

Delays with IndiGo Flights

According to the report, all IndiGo flights at IGI Airport were delayed by more than six hours.

IndiGo stated in its travel alert that visibility and aircraft operations were being impacted by early morning fog in Delhi and other northern Indian locations.

“Visibility and flight operations are being impacted by early morning fog in Delhi and other regions of northern India. Since this is a seasonal occurrence, we ask for your understanding while flight movements are being controlled appropriately to maintain safe and efficient operations,” the airline stated.

IndiGo suggested checking the most recent flight status before leaving for the airport and warned passengers traveling in the morning to anticipate delays or changed schedules.

In order to minimize inconvenience and guarantee customer assistance, the airline stated that its workers were keeping an eye on the weather and working with air traffic authorities.

IndiGo stated, “We will keep you informed and get you on your way as soon as conditions permit.”

Weather Alert Issued by SpiceJet

Additionally, SpiceJet issued a warning, stating that bad weather in Dubai and low visibility in Delhi could have an impact on flight operations.

The airline stated that “all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may be affected” owing to low visibility in Delhi and a thunderstorm with rain in Dubai.
