Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO has been instrumental in driving educational reforms. In March 2024, he inaugurated development projects worth ₹78 crore in constituencies including Jandiala Guru, Khadoor Sahib, and Baba Bakala Sahib, emphasizing timely project completion to benefit the community. ​

On April 9, 2025, Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO inaugurated several development projects at government schools in Jandiala Guru:​

  • Government Elementary and Middle School Dhirekot
  • Government Elementary School Gehri (Jandiala Guru)
  • Government Elementary and Middle School Bhangwan
  • Government High and Elementary School Tangra

  • Infrastructure Investments: Approval of an action plan with an allocation of ₹280.73 crore for free uniforms, books, library enhancements, and sports facilities. ​
  • Curriculum Diversification: Introduction of commerce courses in 35 schools and science courses in 10 schools to cater to diverse student interests.​

While some opposition leaders have expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s educational initiatives, alleging political motivations, the government maintains that these projects are essential for the state’s development. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains emphasized that involving elected representatives in inaugurations ensures transparency and allows them to witness improvements firsthand. ​
