In a bold step towards transforming the education system, the Punjab Government has launched a comprehensive infrastructure upgrade worth Rs 2.32 crore for 35 government schools in Jalandhar. “Under the Punjab Sikhya Kranti program, we are setting new benchmarks for government schools,” Bhagat said. “We want to provide students with access to the best possible learning resources, which include state-of-the-art smart classrooms and modern educational facilities. This will ensure that students in government schools have access to the same quality of education as their counterparts in private schools.”
The Rs 2.32 crore investment will benefit 20 primary schools and 13 upper primary schools in Jalandhar, including upgrades worth Rs 1.48 crore for the primary schools and Rs 84.47 lakh for upper primary institutions.
Key Upgrades in Jalandhar Schools
A major portion of the Rs 2.32 crore has been allocated for the construction of smart classrooms and other necessary infrastructure. Notable projects include:
- Government Middle Smart School, Basti Sheikh: A new smart cluster room, worth Rs 7.51 lakh, was constructed to enhance digital learning.
- Government Primary School (Girls), Basti Guzan: A smart classroom has been set up for Rs 7.51 lakh, aimed at improving student engagement through modern technology.
- Government Primary School, Kot Sadiq: New classrooms, a boundary wall, toilet blocks, and repairs worth Rs 19.47 lakh have been completed, transforming the school environment.
These infrastructure upgrades align with the Punjab Government’s goal of creating modern, student-friendly spaces that can accommodate the growing number of students enrolling in government schools.
Enhancing Teacher Training and School Management

- MLA Balkar Singh inaugurated projects worth Rs 15.23 lakh at schools in Jandu Singh and Madar villages. These projects included new classrooms and necessary repairs.
- MLA Raman Arora unveiled development works worth Rs 29.77 lakh at schools in Rainik Bazaar, Ladowali Road, Kaki Pind, and Nehru Garden.
- MLA Inderjit Kaur Mann inaugurated new facilities worth Rs 13.91 lakh in Nakodar, enhancing school infrastructure in several government schools.
