Central University Celebrates Milestone Outreach Achievement

BILASPUR, CHHATTISGARH : Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, an NAAC A++ accredited Central University in Bilaspur, celebrated the first anniversary of the GGV Shiksha Mitra Sanskar Yojana. The social outreach initiative completed a year of operation on September 23, 2026. The university hosted a orientation and annual celebration programme at the Rajat Jayanti Auditorium to mark the milestone.

Prof. Neelambari Dave, former Vice-Chancellor of Saurashtra University, Rajkot, graced the programme as the Special Guest. The programme was presided over by Prof. Amit Saxena, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya. Prof. Parijat Thakur, Assistant Dean, Students’ Welfare; Prof. Pratibha J. Mishra, Chief Warden; Prof. C. S. Wazalwar, Internal Audit Officer; and Dr. Jyoti Verma, Nodal Officer of the scheme, were also present on the occasion. The gathering highlighted how higher education institutions can directly serve surrounding communities through dedicated volunteer efforts.

Cultural Performances and Guest Addresses Highlight Event

The anniversary ceremony opened with traditional lamp lighting followed by group dance performances performed by young beneficiaries. Special Guest Prof. Neelambari Dave commended the student volunteers for their sustained commitment to community development. She offered practical suggestions to strengthen educational support for children from underprivileged backgrounds.

In his presidential address, Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amit Saxena outlined the long-term vision of the GGV Shiksha Mitra Sanskar Yojana. He emphasized expanding outreach activities across neighboring regions. University leaders formally released the scheme’s annual report and presented awards to outstanding student volunteers during the event.

Beneficiary Numbers and Volunteer Participation Grow

Nodal Officer Dr. Jyoti Verma presented a detailed overview of the initiative’s annual progress. The program served 38 children from underprivileged communities during its initial operational year. A total of 23 undergraduate and postgraduate student volunteers contributed their time across academic departments.

Currently, 20 active student mentors deliver educational support and foundational training. Organizers acknowledged Vice-Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Chakrawal for launching the scheme and Registrar Prof. Ashwini Kumar Dixit for providing administrative assistance. Student coordinators Urvashi and Vivek conducted the proceedings, while Akanksha Chawla delivered the vote of thanks.

Promoting Social Inclusion Through University Initiatives

The completion of the first year of the GGV Shiksha Mitra Sanskar Yojana reinforces the role of academic institutions in community empowerment. By connecting university students with local children, the program builds educational access and social solidarity.
