The Haryana government celebrated national sporting excellence on Wednesday during a grand state-level ceremony in Panchkula. Haryana athletes honored for Commonwealth Games 2026 achievements received widespread acclaim from public leaders. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini presented cash rewards totaling ₹13.97 crore to 24 sportspersons who represented India at the Glasgow Games.

Breakdown of Medals and Financial Incentives
The state government maintains a structured sports policy to empower young champions. Under this scheme, individual gold medalists received ₹1.50 crore each. Meanwhile, silver medalists earned ₹75 lakh and bronze medalists took home ₹50 lakh. Non-medaling participants also received ₹7.50 lakh each to support their ongoing training.
Women sportspersons performed remarkably well during the Glasgow competition. Female athletes secured six of the state’s 11 medals, including five gold medals. Additionally, Haryana boxers dominated the ring by winning six of India’s seven total boxing golds. Para-athlete Sharmila Dhankar also clinched a historic gold medal.
Long-Term Infrastructure and Youth Sports Policies
During the ceremony, Chief Minister Saini highlighted the government’s long-term vision for sports growth. Over the past 12 years, Haryana has distributed cash awards worth ₹742 crore to 17,544 athletes. Furthermore, the state has provided secure government jobs to 260 outstanding sportspersons across Group A, B, and C categories.
To support grassroots talent, Haryana operates 2,000 sports nurseries across all districts. Young trainees receive monthly scholarships to cover basic equipment and nutrition needs.
