Telecom operator Vodafone Idea (Vi) has partnered with Meta Platforms to launch a new authentication technology called the Silent Mobile Verification system. The initiative aims to simplify user login processes while enhancing security across digital platforms in India.
The Silent Mobile Verification system enables Vi users to log in to Meta-owned apps such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook using only their mobile number, eliminating the need for passwords or OTP-based verification.
How Silent Mobile Verification System Works
The Silent Mobile Verification works by verifying a user’s mobile number directly through Vi’s network. When a login attempt is made, Meta’s application sends a request to the telecom network, which automatically confirms the authenticity of the number.
If the verification is successful, access is granted instantly. If not, the login request is denied. This background process makes the Silent Mobile Verification system completely seamless, reducing manual steps and improving user experience.

One of the key advantages of the Silent Mobile Verification is the elimination of OTPs and password entry. Users no longer need to switch between apps or wait for verification codes, making the login process faster and more convenient.
Vi believes that the Silent Mobile Verification system will also improve processes such as new account creation, account recovery, and re-login sessions across supported platforms.
Stronger Security and Fraud Protection
Security is a major focus of the Silent Mobile Verification system. Since authentication happens at the network level, users are less exposed to phishing attacks, fake OTP requests, and other digital fraud risks.
The Silent Mobile Verification system reduces dependency on traditional verification methods and strengthens protection by verifying identity directly through the telecom infrastructure.
Future Expansion of Silent Mobile Verification System
Vi has confirmed that this rollout is just the beginning. The company plans to expand the Silent Mobile Verification beyond Meta platforms and introduce it to more digital services and partner ecosystems in the future.
The telecom operator also aims to integrate the Silent Mobile Verification system into advanced fraud prevention and risk-based authentication systems to further enhance digital security in India.
