Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s historic IPL 2026 title celebrations have been overshadowed by disciplinary action against Australian power-hitter Tim David. The Tim David IPL 2027 Ban was confirmed after the batter received a one-match suspension and a 50 percent match-fee fine for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the final against Gujarat Titans.
The incident occurred during the 10th over of the first innings at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Shortly after a Gujarat Titans wicket fell, Tim David was involved in an emotional outburst and allegedly threw an ice bag aggressively in the direction of on-field umpire Nitin Menon. The act attracted immediate attention and was later reviewed by match officials.
Following an investigation, match referee Javagal Srinath found David guilty of violating Article 2.9 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The rule prohibits players from inappropriately or dangerously throwing equipment, balls, bottles or other objects at match officials, players or spectators.

While the incident itself was classified as a Level 1 offence, the Tim David IPL 2027 Ban was triggered because of the league’s demerit points system.
David had already accumulated disciplinary points earlier in the season:

- IPL 2026 Final: Two more demerit points for the latest offence.
With a total of five demerit points during the season, IPL regulations automatically imposed a one-match suspension. As a result, the Tim David IPL 2027 Ban will prevent him from playing in the opening match of the next IPL season.

RCB Victory Remains Intact
Despite the controversy, David accepted the charge and sanction without contesting the decision. This allowed him to remain available for the remainder of the IPL 2026 Final, where he contributed to Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s successful title-winning campaign alongside Virat Kohli.
The suspension, however, will carry forward to IPL 2027. Whether Tim David remains with Royal Challengers Bengaluru or joins another franchise during future auctions, the Tim David IPL 2027 Ban will still apply to his first match of the season.
