The Supreme Court on Monday refused to grant an urgent hearing on petitions seeking a probe into allegations related to fake advocates and activities associated with the Cockroach Janta Party, the satirical digital movement that has gained massive attention on social media.
A bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi told advocate N K Goswami not to take the matter “so sentimentally” while hearing concerns linked to the Cockroach Janta Party controversy.
Court Says No Urgency in Cockroach Janta Party Matter
During the hearing, the Chief Justice remarked, “Don’t take it so sentimentally,” after submissions demanding immediate action.
The court noted that there was no “grave urgency” in the matter and indicated that the petitions related to the CJP would be considered in due course.
One of the pleas had sought a CBI investigation into alleged fake law degrees and misuse of courtroom remarks for publicity.
Petitions Link Fake Degree Allegations with CJP Debate
The petitions also raised concerns over individuals allegedly using fraudulent degrees to practice law and exploiting judicial observations online.
The controversy gained attention after remarks made during a previous hearing were linked to the rise of the CJP , which later became a viral digital movement.
Petitioners argued that such courtroom exchanges were being misused for online campaigns associated with the Cockroach Janta Party narrative.
CJI Clarifies Earlier Remarks Related to Cockroach Janta Party
The Chief Justice earlier clarified that his comments were misrepresented and were aimed at individuals allegedly using fake and bogus degrees.

He stated that he was hurt by claims suggesting he had insulted the youth and emphasized that his remarks were wrongly circulated in the media, which further fueled discussions around the Cockroach Janta Party.

The CJP has evolved into a widely discussed satirical digital movement focusing on issues such as unemployment, paper leaks, and concerns over the education system.
The platform has reportedly gained over 22 million followers on Instagram, making the Cockroach Janta Party one of the most viral online campaigns among millennials and Gen Z users.
Website Takedown and Allegations
Founder Abhijeet Dipke alleged that the Cockroach Janta Party website was taken down and claimed he received threats following its rapid rise.
He accused authorities of targeting the movement instead of addressing alleged irregularities in the examination system.
The CJP continues to trend online amid debates over free speech, satire, and institutional accountability.
