BRICS Continues to Expand Globally

Originally formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, the BRICS grouping expanded significantly in 2024 with the inclusion of Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates. Indonesia officially joined the bloc in 2025.

With 11 member nations, the grouping now represents nearly 49.5% of the global population, around 40% of global GDP, and approximately 26% of global trade.

The upcoming BRICS Summit 2026 is expected to focus on economic cooperation, trade partnerships, global governance reforms, and strengthening collaboration among emerging economies.

India to Host Key Global Leaders

As host nation, India is expected to welcome several top world leaders during the BRICS Summit 2026, making it one of the most significant international diplomatic events of the year.

The summit is likely to further reinforce India’s role in global diplomacy and multilateral cooperation among emerging economies.
