Batala (Punjab): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on the occasion of the 38th Guru Gaddi Diwas of Sant Trilochan Das Ji Maharaj participated in a “Drug De-Addiction Awareness Program” held at the sacred site Sachkhand Nanak Dham (Darshan Dham) in Batala.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister reiterated his government’s strong commitment to eradicating drug abuse from Punjab. He appealed to the youth to focus on building opportunities within the state rather than looking abroad, urging collective efforts to revive what he called a “vibrant and prosperous Punjab.”
The event, organized at Sachkhand Nanak Dham, also emphasized the importance of communal harmony. Mann said Punjab has historically been a land of peace and unity where all communities celebrate festivals together, and stressed the need to preserve this tradition of social cohesion and respect for religious sentiments.

Strict anti-sacrilege stance announced
Reaffirming his government’s stand on religious respect and communal peace, Mann highlighted the introduction of a new anti-sacrilege legislation. He stated that under this law, those found guilty would face stringent punishment, including life imprisonment without bail and fines up to ₹50 lakh.
The Chief Minister described the legislation as a historic step aimed at preventing acts that hurt religious sentiments and disturb peace in the state.
Welfare schemes highlighted
Mann also outlined several welfare initiatives being implemented by the state government, saying public funds are being directed toward citizen welfare and healthcare.

He referred to schemes such as the “Maatri-Putri Sataar Scheme” and the “Chief Minister Health Scheme,” under which families are entitled to free medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh. According to him, these initiatives are designed to ensure direct benefit to common citizens and reduce financial burden on households.
Government’s focus
Concluding his address, the Chief Minister said the Punjab government is working continuously for the state’s development, focusing on health, social welfare, and law-and-order reforms while encouraging youth participation in state-building.
The program concluded with calls for unity, social responsibility, and continued awareness against drug abuse across Punjab.
