Dehradun, Uttarakhand – In a major healthcare initiative, the Uttarakhand government has decided to establish dedicated Uttarakhand Cancer Care Units in five hill districts: Bageshwar, Champawat, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, and Chamoli. Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami highlighted that this step aims to provide accessible and quality cancer treatment to patients residing in remote mountainous regions.
Currently, patients from these districts often have to travel long distances to urban centers for diagnosis and treatment. With the introduction of Uttarakhand Cancer Care Units, residents will now have access to advanced screening, consultation, and treatment facilities within their own districts.

Healthcare experts have welcomed this move, noting that regional cancer care infrastructure is crucial for improving survival rates and early detection, particularly in areas where access to specialized medical services is limited.
This initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to advancing public health and making specialized medical services more accessible to all residents, ensuring that no patient in Uttarakhand’s remote regions has to compromise on healthcare due to distance or lack of resources.
