No scope for alliance between Congress, AAP for assembly polls in Haryana, Delhi: Jairam Ramesh.

AICC general secretary Jairam Ramesh stated on Thursday that there is no chance of the Congress and the AAP forming an alliance for the assembly elections in Haryana and Delhi, but the INDIA bloc will contest elections jointly in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.

Ramesh stated that the INDIA alliance will not adhere to a single formula for state elections in an interview with PTI. In states where leaders of Congress and other alliance partners consent to such an accord, the group will fight together, he said.

In response to a question on whether the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) would run together in the upcoming assembly elections, Ramesh stated that the alliance would do so in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.

Punjab does not have an INDIA ‘janbandhan’. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was granted one seat in Haryana for the Lok Sabha elections, but I don’t believe that INDIA janbandhan will be present for the assembly elections.

The AAP in Delhi has declared that INDIA janbandhan will not be present for the assembly elections, according to Ramesh.
While running independently in Punjab, the Congress and AAP collaborated to fight the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi.

“The INDIA bloc is for Lok Sabha polls, but in states where the circumstances are such that our leaders of the state and leaders of our alliance partners want, the alliance will remain,” Ramesh stated in reference to West Bengal as well. The alliance with the NCP (SCP) and Shiv Sena (UBT) will exist in Maharashtra. We are allies with the Jharkhand Mukti Morch in Jharkhand.”

He stated that an alliance will form when state Congress leaders and the relevant alliance parties concur, but that there is no set formula for how the alliance will be formed for assembly elections.

When asked directly if Haryana and Delhi would form an alliance, Ramesh responded, “There is no scope (for alliance) in Delhi and Haryana.”

While assembly elections in Delhi are scheduled for early next year, elections in Jharkhand, Haryana, and Maharashtra are scheduled for later this year.
