New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday slammed the ongoing India AI Impact Summit 2026, calling it a “disorganised PR spectacle” and alleging that Chinese products are being showcased at the event instead of highlighting Indian innovation.

Rahul Gandhi remarks come amid controversy surrounding Galgotias University, which reportedly displayed a robotic dog labeled “Orion” at the summit’s expo. Critics pointed out that the robot was actually a Chinese-made Unitree Go2 and not an in-house innovation. Following the backlash, sources said that Galgotias University has been asked to vacate its stall immediately.

The Rahul Gandhi further accused the Modi government of harming India’s global image in the field of AI. In an official post on X, the party stated, “The Modi government has made a laughing stock of India globally. Chinese robots are being displayed as our own at the AI summit, which is truly embarrassing.”

The party also criticised Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, alleging that he was complicit in promoting foreign technology, adding that the government has “reduced AI to a joke” despite India’s potential to be a global leader in the sector.
