Mary Kom accuses ex-husband Karung Onkholer of financial misconduct; Onler retaliates with infidelity claims. The feud continues post-divorce.

Following their divorce in 2023, legendary Indian boxer MC Mary Kom and her ex-husband, Karung Onkholer (Onler), have been involved in a high-profile public battle.

Following Mary Kom’s appearance on the television program Aap Ki Adalat, when she made grave accusations of financial theft and lack of support against her ex-partner of eighteen years, the dispute intensified.

The accusations made by Mary Kom: “He Didn’t Earn a Single Rupee”

The six-time world champion refuted the widely believed belief that Onler had “sacrificed” his profession to support her boxing adventure in an angry interview.

Onler, according to Mary, was never the family’s primary provider and spent the most of his time “sleeping at home” while she worked.

She claimed that following an injury in 2022, she found her bank accounts were almost completely depleted. She further accused Onler of taking out huge amounts of money (up to ₹10 lakh at a time) and mortgaging her homes without her permission.

Despite her own disinterest in politics, Mary claimed to have spent some ₹5–6 crore to support Onler’s political aspirations. “What successful career? On the streets, he used to play football. In all honesty, he wasn’t even making a single rupee. Kahan sacrifice kiya, kuch bhi nahin? Mary told India TV, “Subah shaam sotaa rehta tha (He used to sleep the whole day).”I was saddened by the fact that he was subsisting on a girl’s salary. I had all of my values and trust, and I was making a lot of money. I discovered later that my account was almost completely emptied,” she said.

Onler’s Retaliation: Accusations of Infidelity

Onler vehemently refuted the financial charges and retaliated with personal accusations in interviews and other media on January 13, 2026.

Citing a 2013 incident with a young fighter and a more recent contact with someone at the Mary Kom Boxing Academy, Onler claimed that Mary had engaged in extramarital affairs. As proof, he said, he had WhatsApp communications.

“She mentioned that I spent an awful amount of money because I wanted to contest elections,” he said, citing his present living arrangement in a leased property in Delhi as evidence that he did not steal “crores” of rupees. She was the one who encouraged me to do it, though. She was put forward as a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) in 2016. He told , “She encouraged me to run when her MP term was coming to a close. I was getting ready for the UPSC when we met. In addition, I played football under contract. She asked me to assist her by sacrificing my career. She requested me to take care of the children. I believed her passion was our passion since I loved her and she was enthusiastic about boxing. She spent weeks and months away. The kids were reared by me. I kept the house running, fed them, bathed them, and took them to coaching.

The Present Stall

Fans who previously saw the couple as a model of marital support in Indian sports are shocked by the aftermath. Onler has voiced her intense hurt at being depicted as a “villain” in the media, despite Mary Kom’s insistence that her children live with her and that she pays for all of their expenditures.

As of January 15, 2026, the conflict is still being reported in the media as a “he-said, she-said” contest.
