Punjab Police arrest 98 drug smugglers, seize heroin, ganja, poppy husk and tablets in 359 raids under CM Mann’s Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign.

Punjab Police conducted raids at 359 locations on Thursday, resulting in the arrest of 98 drug smugglers after registering 82 first information reports (FIRs) across the state, as part of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign to eradicate the drug menace from the state for the 313th consecutive day. With this, the overall number of drug smugglers apprehended has risen to 43,691 in 313 days.

The operations resulted in the seizure of 1.04 kilogram heroin, 7 kg ganja, 105 quintals poppy husk, 20,900 intoxicant tablets/capsules, and Rs 14,070 drug money from the apprehended drug smugglers.

Over 120 police teams, totaling over 1000 policemen, under the leadership of 69 gazetted officers, have undertaken 359 raids around the state. During the day-long operation, police teams checked on up to 354 questionable individuals.

To eradicate narcotics from the state, the state government has implemented a three-pronged strategy—Enforcement, Deaddiction, and Prevention (EDP). The Punjab Police, as part of ‘De-addiction’, has encouraged 58 people to undertake de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.
