Punjab govt to name Baba Bakala ITI after Shaheed Baba Jivan Singh Ji. Memorial and events mark 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.
The Punjab government plans to name the Government ITI in Baba Bakala Sahib after Shaheed Baba Jivan Singh Ji (Bhai Jaita Ji). At the State level event in honor of Bhai Jaita Ji, Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, who was there as Chief Guest, made this announcement at Baba Bakala Sahib.
Speaking to the Sangat, the Cabinet Minister stated that on the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the Punjab Vidhan Sabha session was held at Sri Anandpur Sahib for the first time in Punjab’s history under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. The State Government’s construction of a memorial to Bhai Jaita Ji at a cost of Rs. 21 crore is a source of immense pride.
The Minister went on to say that Guru Sahiban himself gave Bhai Jaita Ji his two names, making him the sole Sikh. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji gave the first name, Bhai Jaita, and Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji gave the second, Jivan Singh, following the Amrit. ETO shed light on Bhai Jaita Ji’s life, stating that he brought the “Revered Sis” to Sri Kiratpur Sahib after Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji was slain in 1675. This was followed by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji embracing Bhai Jaita Ji and referring to him as ‘Rangreta Guru Ka Beta.’

The Minister went on to say that the Punjab government is educating the younger generation about the Guru Sahiban’s enormous sacrifices. As a result, the State Government organized numerous events to commemorate Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s 350th Martyrdom Day.
Harbhajan Singh has already paid respects at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s Gurudwara Sahib.
Dalbir Singh Tong, the constituency MLA, congratulated ETO on the occasion by presenting him with a picture of Bhai Jaita Ji. Speaking to the Sangat, Mr. Tong expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for hosting a state-level event at Baba Bakala Sahib in remembrance of Bhai Jaita Ji. Tong described Bhai Jaita Ji’s devotion as unmatched in history and disclosed that Bhai Jaita Ji was a wonderful poet in addition to being a multilingual speaker of Persian, Urdu, and Sanskrit. The Deputy Commissioner then honored MLA Dalbir Singh Tong as well.
