Punjab police raid Lalru, neutralize kabaddi player murder suspects. Injured cops recover; remaining culprits under investigation.

Punjab police : As part of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann ongoing efforts to make Punjab a safe and secure state, the SAS Nagar district police took a significant action . Two police officers were injured in an encounter in Lalru here, and key suspects in the Kabbadi Player murder case were neutralized in a retaliatory fire by police teams.

Speaking to the media, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) SAS Nagar Harmandeep Hans identified the culprit as Harpinder alias Middhi, a Tarn Taran native of Naushehra Pannuan. According to him, the latter was shot during the shooting and was treated at the hospital before passing away from his wounds.

According to the source, on December 15, attackers in Mohali shot and killed Kanwar Digvijay Singh, also known as Rana Balachauria, a kabaddi player and promoter.

The mastermind in the case, Aishdeep Singh, a citizen of Tarn Taran who was presently residing in Russia, has also been apprehended by police teams. The latter was caught at Delhi Airport as he was preparing to flee to Muscat after arriving in India on November 25 at Dony Bal’s orders to carry out this murder.

According to the SSP, police parties led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dera Bassi Bikramjit Singh Brar, Inspector Sumit Mor, and Inspector Pushvinder Singh acted quickly in response to information provided by the accused Aishdeep Singh regarding his accomplice Harpinder Middhi, who actively supported the shooters and was meant to flee with him.
On the Ambala-Lalru Highway, close to the Jharmal River in Lalru, Inspector Malkiat Singh carried out a raid.

He claimed that when the suspect, Harpinder Middhi, saw the police party, he opened fire on them, seriously wounding Head Constables Gulab Singh and Kumar Sharma. The police party then retaliated in self-defense, during which the suspect was hurt and taken to Civil Hospital Dera Bassi, where he passed away.

According to SSP Harmandeep Hans, Amritsar Rural Police assisted the police in the arrest of another suspect, Jugraj Singh, for his role in this crime. “All of the defendants in this case have been identified, and raids are underway to apprehend the remaining defendants.”
