UP CM Yogi Adityanath pays homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, highlighting his role in India’s integration and criticizes Nehru on Kashmir.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid homage to Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary, observed on Monday, December 15, 2025. During an occasion in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi stated that the current character of India is a legacy bestowed by Sardar Patel. He attributed the Kashmir dispute to Jawaharlal Nehru.

During the occasion commemorating Sardar Patel’s death anniversary in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi stated that India will forever honor Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as the visionary architect of the India we see today.

Everyone is aware that the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Nawab of Junagadh were opposed to his joining the Republic of India. Because during the country’s transition to independence, the British authorities granted the princely states the autonomy to accede to Pakistan, India, or to retain their independence. The Chief Minister stated that Sardar Patel integrated Junagadh and Hyderabad into the Republic of India through a bloodless revolution. Only through Sardar Patel’s wisdom did these two princely states become integrated into the Republic of India. The Nawab of Junagadh and the Nizam of Hyderabad were compelled to leave the country.

Nehru held accountable for the Kashmir conflict

While Jawaharlal Nehru addressed the issue of integrating the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, he admitted to experiencing confusion. Nehru rendered Jammu and Kashmir a highly contentious issue, ensuring that India remains occupied with it even after its prolonged independence. The country was established based on the same Kashmir region due to the efforts of Pandit Nehru.

Sardar Patel was firmly opposed to the partition of India. At the time of independence, 567 princely states were integrated into the Republic of India. This nation expresses gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for advancing the commitment of unifying the country and establishing Kashmir as an integral part of the Republic of India through the abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir.

It was a misfortune for the nation that, following Sardar Patel’s continued leadership, his physical presence was removed from us on 15 December 1950. However, his memories have become a renewed source of inspiration for all of us.
