CM Yogi Meets Tata Chairman to Discuss Uttar Pradesh Investments

Tata Group to Boost UP Economy with EV, Solar, and Thermal Power Projects

UP Govt and Tata Group discuss electric vehicles, solar power, and thermal energy projects, boosting employment and infrastructure in the state.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath convened a meeting with Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran to discuss the company’s current and prospective investments in the state, with particular emphasis on electric vehicles, renewable energy, and electricity generation.

During the meeting, Chandrasekaran presented Tata Motors’ strategic plans to increase the production of electric vehicles (EVs) in Uttar Pradesh, encompassing the development of new EV models. He outlined the group’s strategic plan for the expansion of electric vehicles, including electric buses and passenger vehicles, which is anticipated to enhance Tata’s market position while generating new employment opportunities within the state.

The Tata Group also provided the Chief Minister with an overview of its energy and infrastructure initiatives. Tata Power is establishing a new 1,900 MW thermal power unit at the Bara facility in Prayagraj. The project will consist of three power generation units, each with a capacity of 360 MW, and is intended to augment the state’s power infrastructure while creating local employment opportunities, a government spokesperson stated.

Within the renewable energy sector, Tata Power is advancing its solar initiatives in Uttar Pradesh. Two solar power facilities, each with a capacity of 50 MW, are under development in Prayagraj and Banda. “The group is also advocating for the installation of rooftop solar systems throughout the state, in accordance with the government’s focus on sustainable development and the reduction of carbon emissions,” he stated.

Additionally, to facilitate the advancement of IT and industrial infrastructure, the Tata Group is constructing new facilities in Noida to attract additional investment. The initial segment of this project is scheduled for sequential completion by December 2026.

The Chief Minister expressed approval of the Tata Group’s investment plans, noting that they align with Uttar Pradesh’s vision for industrial development, expansion of renewable energy, and employment generation.
