CM Nayab Singh Saini announces ₹116.15 crore compensation for 53,821 farmers affected by torrential rains in Haryana.

Providing significant assistance to the farmers of Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini disbursed a total compensation of Rs 116.15 crore to 53,821 farmers for crop damages resulting from torrential rains in August and September. Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana was also in attendance on this occasion.

During a press conference held here, the Chief Minister announced that the compensation disbursed today comprises Rs 35.29 crore for millet, Rs 27.43 crore for cotton, Rs 22.91 crore for paddy, and Rs 14.10 crore for guar. The disbursement has commenced immediately, and the full amount will be credited to the accounts of beneficiary producers within the upcoming week.

He explained that the intense rainfall during August and September of the previous year had resulted in flooding across multiple districts, and he directly visited the affected regions to evaluate the circumstances. The e-Kshatipurti portal, launched on September 15, invites farmers to submit details of crop damage to enable prompt compensation.

The Chief Minister stated that three districts experienced the most substantial losses: Charkhi Dadri received Rs 23.55 crore, Hisar Rs 17.82 crore, and Bhiwani Rs 12.15 crore. He also stated that previously, the government had disbursed Rs 4.72 crore to offset livestock losses, property damage, and other essential items impacted by the floods.

He further stated that a total of 5,29,199 farmers had registered 31 lakh acres of land on the e-Kshatipurti portal due to crop losses caused by natural disasters during the 2025 Kharif season. Following verification, damage was verified on 1,20,380 acres belonging to 53,821 farmers.

The Government Supports Farmers in All Circumstances

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini affirmed that the Haryana government is committed to supporting farmers and will provide appropriate compensation for any losses they sustain. In accordance with this commitment, the government has been delivering prompt compensation to producers for crop losses over the past eleven years. Under the PMFBY, a total of Rs 15,448 crore has been allocated to provide financial assistance to farmers in the state.

Congress subjected farmers to an unfair act by distributing compensation cheques valued at only 2-5 rupees.

Targeting the opposition, the Chief Minister asserted that the Congress government had subjected farmers to a harsh deception. During their tenure, Patwaris failed to perform adequate on-the-ground verification, which led to farmers not receiving the complete compensation they were entitled to. Even individuals who received compensation were issued cheques amounting to only 2 to 5 rupees. During the ten-year tenure of the Congress administration, a total of Rs 1,138 crore was disbursed as compensation.

He further stated that the Congress government was unable to disburse Rs 269 crore in compensation to farmers. Following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s assumption of power in 2014, the state government insured that in 2015, this Rs 269 crore from the preceding administration was directly credited to farmers’ accounts.

The Chief Minister announced that, in the interest of accountability, six Patwaris have been suspended due to negligence in verifying crop losses during the 2025 Kharif season. He underscored that the state government maintains a clear agenda: it is accountable to all citizens, and rigorous measures will be enforced against anyone identified as negligent or failing in their responsibilities.

Rs 358.62 Crore Disbursed to Millet Farmers under Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that millet was incorporated into the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana during the 2021 Kharif season to guarantee equitable prices for millet producers within the state. Considering the interests of producers, the procurement of millet for the 2025-26 Kharif season commenced on September 23, 2025.

He stated that to guarantee farmers a just compensation for their harvests, the government has opted to offer benefits at the rate of Rs 575 per quintal under the Millet Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana. Under this initiative, a sum of Rs 358.62 crore has been disbursed today to 1,57,000 cultivators within the state. Disbursement has commenced immediately, and the entire sum will be credited to the accounts of beneficiary producers within the upcoming week.

The Chief Minister further stated that a total of 623,000 metric tons of millet was procured this season. To date, farmers have been awarded Rs 927 crore as compensation for millet price disparities, and with the release issued today, the total amount has increased to Rs 1,285.62 crore.
