UK Deputy High Commissioner visits Haryana; discussions on global campuses, youth employment, and sectoral investments in the state.
The UK Deputy High Commissioner to India, Alba Smeriglio, paid a courtesy visit to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini at his residence on Tuesday. During the meeting, significant discussions took place concerning the establishment of campuses by prominent British universities in Haryana. This initiative will generate new opportunities for world-class education, advanced skills, and employment for the youth of the state.
The Chief Minister stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is progressing consistently towards self-reliance and is on track to attain developed nation status by the year 2047. Throughout this voyage, artificial intelligence and education will serve as pivotal elements. Progressing towards this vision, the Haryana Government is persistently striving to establish Haryana as a global center of education and is actively working to promote the setting up of campuses of international universities within the state. The establishment of British universities in Haryana will confer a new dimension to the state’s international academic reputation.
On this occasion, Ms. Alba Smeriglio commended the initiatives undertaken by the Haryana Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini and reaffirmed her dedication to collaborating on various projects in the future.

The meeting also encompassed comprehensive discussions regarding the demand for skilled labor in the United Kingdom and the employment and career prospects accessible to youth from Haryana. Both parties concurred to strengthen collaboration and pursue joint efforts for the training and recruitment of youthful professionals.
Furthermore, investment opportunities in vital sectors including automobiles, aviation, agriculture, and defense apparatus were also discussed. The Chief Minister briefed the UK delegation on Haryana’s policies, industrial infrastructure, and its exceptional investment climate, and extended an invitation to British investors to consider investing in Haryana.
The meeting was convened by Haryana’s Department of Foreign Cooperation, during which comprehensive discussions took place to enhance and deepen collaboration between the two nations.
